Election Candidates - Steve McMann (President)/Brian Walsh (VP)

Steve McMann has lived in Walpole since 2011.  Steve works as a Managing Director at Accenture and has been with that company for 20 years.  He is married to Stephanie (currently long-term sub at Daniel Feeney pre-school), kids Camryn (13), Abby (11) and Connor (8) all in Walpole schools.

Born in Quincy MA, Steve has a passion for baseball and helping coach/teach kids.  Steve played shortstop at Archbishop Williams where the team won the State Championship in 1995.  He then went on to Babson College and played all 4 years at catcher being selected All Conference multiple years and All New England.  Growing up Steve worked numerous baseball camps across the South Shore and was also a volunteer assistant in the early years out of college at Curry and Babson.

Steve has been involved in the sports community in Walpole.  He has volunteered and coached soccer, basketball, hockey and baseball.   Steve also volunteered with a few of the Walpole Williamsport teams in 2017 & 2018 helping with the development of the catchers.

Steve is loyal, organized, hard-working and cares about the kids in the town.  He hopes to have an opportunity to pay back to the game of baseball and carry forward the strong brand/legacy that is Walpole baseball.

Brian Walsh has been involved in Walpole Little League since 2010. He has been coach at all levels of Walpole Little League and he has been on the Walpole Little League Board for 4 years.

Most recently Brian has served on the Board as the Player Agent for the newly formed Senior League for players ages 13-15.

Brian has also coached youth hockey for more than 10 years and has served on the Hockey Board for 6 years.

Brian and his wife Jenn have 5 children, Max 16, Jack 15, Ryan 13, Kaylee 11 and Shayne 6. Max and Jack have gone through the Walpole Little League program and currently play for the High School. Next year Ryan will play his second year of Senior League and Kaylee will be in her final year of the Majors. Shayne is patiently waiting for his 8 year old year.

Brian enjoys being involved and giving back to the community and would welcome any new challenges this position would offer.

Election Candidates - Aaron Gilbert (President)/Dave Torres (VP)

Aaron Gilbert has been involved with youth sports for over 10 years because he believes in giving back to the community and providing a structured environment where children can build friendships, confidence, and character.  Growing up under the influence of some amazing parents and coaches provided the structure to experience the many benefits of teamwork and unity.  By providing the same enthusiasm, passion, support, and care to the next generation, he’s confident that we can continue to positively influence our youth for years to come.  Aaron is a resident of South Walpole entering his third year as a member of the Walpole Little League (WLL) Board of Directors.  Aaron has served as the Minors Coordinator of WLL for the past two years.  In addition to his duties as Minors Coordinator, he’s coached in the WLL Pee Wee Division, Summer Friendship League, WLL Minors Division, and Northeast Gators AAU baseball club.  He and his wife, Christy, live in Walpole with their son and daughter.  Their son, Aaron, is in fourth grade and plays football, baseball, lacrosse, and wrestling.  Their daughter, Hailey, is in tenth grade and spends four days a week at a variety of dance classes.  Aaron has also been the Head Coach of the Walpole Youth Wrestling 1-4 grade team for the past five years.  He has worked at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance in Boston for five years and holds a BS in Mathematics from UMass Amherst.  As Director of IT Development, he manages a team of 50 developers and is responsible for the project planning and execution of a number of key initiatives.  These challenges are very similar to the oversight, delegation, checkpoints and financial challenges that face the President of a Little League Organization.  Aaron played little league baseball at Agawam Little League in Western Massachusetts as a child and at the collegiate level at Worcester State University.

David Torres believes in changing the world for the better and has dedicated his 20+ year career to helping various non-profits like Dana-Farber Cancer Institute raise funds for their life-saving missions. He is also dedicated to empowering our youth and building their self-esteem through sports. As a resident of Walpole, David has devoted himself to serving the community by coaching at the YMCA, Walpole Little League, and Youth Basketball Association for a variety of seasons and age levels. David also coaches for the Boston Slammers, a non-profit organization dedicated to the empowerment of girls through the game of baseball. The Boston Slammers is the only all-girl baseball travel team representing Massachusetts in tournaments around the country. In addition to youth sports, David has contributed his time as a volunteer at his church's kid ministry. Before residing in Walpole, David and his family lived in Atlanta, Maryland and Seattle. While growing up, David learned to love the game of baseball on the streets of Brooklyn and the sandlots of Puerto Rico, sharing the field with several future MLB pros. David moved to Boston in 1994 and holds a BA in History and in Psychology from Boston University and attended the New England School of Art and Design. David believes empowering our youth through sports not only helps give a child confidence, it helps develop a strong foundation they can build upon to become a hopeful, self-assured adult.
